(Des Moines) Over 2,200 students from more than 140 schools are participating in the 18th Annual State Archery Tournament at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines today, and tomorrow.
Fifty bullseye targets will be set up, allowing 100 archers to shoot at a time, and 30 3D targets will be set up, allowing 60 archers to shoot at a time.
Beyond bragging rights, incentives to win include more than $10,000 in college scholarships based on performance at the competition, $13,000 additional dollars will be awarded to archers based on academic performance, and the teams that place at the tournament will be eligible to receive an estimated $18,000 in equipment for their schools.
