(Polk County) One person died in a single-vehicle crash in Polk County.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says the accident occurred near the 12100 block of Hwy 141 this (Sunday) morning just before 9:00 a.m.
When deputies arrived, they located the car in the west ditch, where it had struck a tree. The driver of the vehicle, an adult female, and the only occupant was pronounced dead on the scene.
Preliminary investigations indicate the vehicle was traveling southbound on Hwy 141 when the driver lost control and entered the west ditch, striking a tree. Hwy 141 was closed for a short time but has since re-opened.
This is an ongoing investigation, and deputies continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses in an attempt to determine the cause of this accident.
The victim’s name will be released after the family notification has been completed. No other information is available at this time, and updates will be sent out as they become available for release.
