(Pottawattamie Co) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors approved the FEMA CRS Community Annual Recertification.
Matt Wyant, Planning and Development Director, explained that this is the annual re-certification of the Community Rating System program that FEMA does for the flood plain development and management practices in Pottawattamie County.
Wyant said they work every year to try to increase their rating.
Wyant said it is all about enhanced public safety, improving resilience and community preparedness, and it helps with access to grants and federal funding opportunities, so, he said, there is a number of benefits Pottawattamie County gets out of being a part of this.
Wyant noted that they manage everything outside of city limits in the rural environment.
