(Fort Dodge) A Fort Dodge woman faces charges concerning a residential fire in Fort Dodge.
According to the press release, on Sunday, at around 1:41 p.m., the Webster County Communications Center received a call about a residential fire at 211 N. 12th Street in Fort Dodge. The Fort Dodge Police Department and the Fort Dodge Fire Department responded to the scene.
When they arrived, officers and firefighters found an active residential fire on the second floor. The Fort Dodge Fire Department took control of the fire, preventing it from spreading to the rest of the building. The residence was occupied at the time, but no injuries were reported. Investigators deemed the cause of the fire suspicious in nature.
Over the past two days, investigators followed up on the case and determined the fire was set intentionally. As the result of the investigation thus far, 34-year-old Megan S. Freeman is in custody on charges of 1st–degree arson, 3rd-degree arson, and 1st–degree harassment.
Freeman is held in the Webster County Jail on a $29,000 bond.
