(Atlantic) The Sweetheart Market will take place at the Nishna Valley Family YMCA in Atlantic on Saturday, February 8, from 10 AM to 1 PM. This event is free to attend and features something for everyone, including local food, crafts, and family-friendly activities.
Start your day with a delicious pancake breakfast served by the Pancake Man. Enjoy all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, and drinks for just $8 per adult and $5 per child (under 18). Proceeds from the pancake meal will support local Cass County food pantries.
Inside the YMCA, 30 vendors will set up for the Sweetheart Market, offering a wide variety of local foods and handmade crafts. Food vendors will include offerings like honey, chicken, beef, lamb, local produce, sourdough bread, baked goods, and desserts. Craft vendors will feature unique items such as goat milk soaps, candles, crocheted clothing and toys, seasonal decorations, and more.
The event’s theme, “Bee Mine, Honey,” will highlight local honey vendors and offer bee- and honey-themed activities. The Southwest Iowa Beekeepers and Cass County Extension will provide information about bees and honey, and Sarah Selders will be offering bee- and honey-themed face painting.
For families with young children, the YMCA will host a free bounce house during the market.
In addition, the Sweetheart Market welcomes organizations like Cass County Tourism and Healthy Cass County, which will share information about local community events and opportunities.
All Produce in the Park farmers markets, including Sweetheart Market, accept SNAP EBT (food stamps) for qualifying food items.
Please note that this year’s market hours were adjusted to accommodate the pancake breakfast. Some previously distributed flyers or coupons may reflect the older schedule, so be sure to note the updated time: 10 AM to 1 PM.
