(Des Moines) The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is introducing a new record fish list. John Lorenzen, a fisheries biologist with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, explains that this new list will focus on length only, while the existing state record system, which is based on weight, will remain unchanged.
Lorenzen mentions that the specific species included in the length-based record list will not be announced until everything is finalized. He anticipates that the DNR will initially receive a high volume of entries and eventually add more species to the list.
