(Des Moines) Iowa’s attorney general wants to assist the state’s youth in court. Brenna Bird proposed last week to add a constitutional amendment to protect kids and Iowans with intellectual disabilities during court cases. Bird said a recent decision in the state supreme court reversed protections for those groups that allowed them to provide testimony against accused abusers in a different room. Her office noted the decision made Iowa the only state in the country without closed-circuit testimony.
