(Red Oak) Firefighters swiftly responded to prevent a fire in an attached garage from spreading to the home on the southwest edge of Red Oak.
Red Oak Fire Chief John Bruce says the call went out at 8:20 p.m. on Monday, at 108 A Street, regarding a fully engulfed garage fire. Red Oak, Stanton, and Elliott Fire Departments responded to the call. Upon arrival, fire crews had a fully engulfed garage with an extension beginning to the occupied house. Crews confirmed the occupants were evacuated and began suppression operations. Fire crews contained the fire to the garage (preserving the house). Fire crews wrapped up fire ground operations at approximately 10:00 p.m.
There were two dog kennels occupied in the garage area that were unfortunately taken by the fire. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
Chief Bruce says a wood-burning stove inside the garage had been used approximately one hour before the fire call.
