(Council Bluffs, IA) — 911 callers in Council Bluffs reported a semi headed east on I-80 this morning with sparks flying from the back. When State Patrol troopers tried to pull the semi over, the driver kept going, for almost two hours, to near Des Moines. The Iowa State Patrol says they used stop sticks to blow several of the semi truck’s tires to slow him down, then surrounded the semi with state patrol trooper cruisers, who guided the driver off the interstate. They had been told the driver might be having a medical condition and he was taken to a local hospital by ambulance.
