(Scott County, IA) — The recount in the Iowa Congressional District One race is continuing this morning.
Scott County election officials began the count process this past Friday and are starting up again at 8 a.m. Initial vote tallies had incumbent Republican Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks ahead of Democrat challenger Christina Bohannan by fewer than one-thousand votes. The Iowa House District 98 recount for the race between current Democrat state Representative Monica Kurth and Republican Nathan Ramker is beginning this morning as well. Kurth leads Ramker by only 45 votes following the first count.
The public is permitted to witness both recounts at the Scott County warehouse on Lancer Court in Eldridge, although election officials have warned that seating at the facility is limited.
