Margaret Ethel Livengood, 86 years, 11 months, and 26 days, of McAllen Texas, passed away Monday, November 4, 2024, in Edinburgh, Texas. Margaret Ethel Dunn was born November 8, 1937 in Braddyville, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Mary (Henderson) Dunn. She graduated from Amity High School in College Springs, Iowa in 1956. Margaret married Thomas Edgar Livengood on October 28, 1955. They have four children, Jim, Steve, Sandy, and Julie.
Margaret kept busy raising her children, and held many jobs, which included working at the Clarinda Chamber of Commerce, driving a school bus for South Page Community Schools, Clarinda Auction Company Café, Clarinda Auction Company clerk/secretary and Schildberg Construction as a Weigh Master. She also served on the South Page School Board, was a Township Trustee, and a member of the Braddyville Methodist Church.
Margaret loved to bake and cook. She would bake homemade pies for the Clarinda Auction Company Café and other venues, as many as 140 at a time. Her family also enjoyed them!
Tom and Margaret enjoyed traveling to many places including Spain, Hawaii, London, North Africa, Brazil, Mexico, and on 10 Caribbean cruises. After visiting friends in McAllen, Texas in 1990, Tom and Margaret purchased a home at Paradise Park. Each year they stayed longer, until they spent more time in McAllen. The last several years they have made their home there.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Marvin and Tom Dunn, her parents- in-law, Tama and Kenneth Livengood, and a sister-in-law, Barbara Livengood.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 69 years and 7 days, Tom, of McAllen, Texas, her children Jim (Suzi) of Dixon, Missouri, Steve (Marie) of Atlantic, Iowa, Sandy Phillips of Braddyville, Iowa, and Julie (Mark Collins), of Maryville, Missouri, 11 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Ron Livengood of Clarinda, Iowa, and sister-in-law Ann (Jim) Keever of Olathe, Kansas, other relatives, and many friends.
Services will be held in Braddyville, Iowa at a later date.
