(Des Moines) The potential for strong to severe storms now includes northern, central, and portions of southwest Iowa. Forecasters say thunderstorms are expected to fire up along a frontal boundary late this afternoon into this evening. The highest chances for severe weather remain in northern Iowa, where there is the possibility of large hail and damaging winds. One or two tornadoes cannot be ruled out completely.
