(Atlantic) Atlantic Mayor Grace Garrett administered the Oath of Office to City Clerk Laura McLean at Monday’s City Council Meeting. Former City Clerk Barb Barrick’s last day on the Job was March 22. The Personnel and Finance Committee recommended Laura McLean for the position.
McLean most recently worked from home doing various consulting and contract work. She was looking for a change to a full-time position when this opportunity arose.
McLean admits she has a Master’s Degree in Administration, and this is her first job working for municipal government.
McLean says that after talking to the city council members about the position from both sides, it appeared to be a good fit. She admits there will be a steep learning curve because of the numerous components of this job.
Personnel & Finance Chairperson Elaine Otte released this statement on the hiring of Laura McLean. “We are pleased to announce Laura has been selected to fill the position of City Clerk for the City of Atlantic, following a multi-tiered interview process. Laura made it clear through the process that she would always strive to do what is best for the city, its citizens, and our employees. She brings strong education skills and experience and is excited to join our team.”
McLean is also a member of the Atlantic School Board and will continue to serve on the board.
