(Greenfield) Adair and Guthrie County are partnering with local disaster assistance organizations to open a “one-stop shop” for tornado survivors of the Greenfield tornado. The Multi-Agency Resource Center will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday (June 2) and from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday (June 3) at the Nodaway Valley Elementary School.
Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeremy Cooper says trained English and Spanish-speaking caseworkers will be available at the MARC to help people create a personal recovery plan, navigate paperwork, and provide local assistance for their specific disaster-caused needs. Cooper says the services include mental health support, housing, unemployment assistance, animal supplies, assistance for groceries, rent, medicine, and other items and services.
Cooper says representatives from government, nonprofit, and religiously affiliated disaster relief organizations will be on hand to assist disaster survivors. Additionally, agencies can help those people needing long-term recovery assistance.
Individuals and families can meet with agencies for referrals or other long-term recovery services if your family is not eligible for government assistance or if that assistance is inadequate to meet your needs. Individuals and families applying for assistance are encouraged to bring identification, showing their addresses and proof of residence, to be eligible for help from some agencies.
