(Des Moines) Des Moines Police are searching for another suspect after shots were fired outside Roosevelt High School’s graduation ceremony. One person has been arrested and charged, but authorities are seeking information on the second shooter. Police believe there may have been an exchange of gunfire out of Knapp Center at Drake University. No injuries have been reported.
According to the news release, Police heard the gunshots at around 5:40 p.m. near Drake University’s Knapp Center and responded to the scene.
Police took two individuals into custody. One was a 22-year-old Des Moines resident booked into the Polk County Jail early Sunday morning. He was charged with going armed with intent and carrying weapons on school grounds, both class D felonies. He was also charged with reckless use of a firearm, a simple misdemeanor.
The second person, a 17-year-old from Des Moines, was found not to be directly involved in the shooting, police said in a news release Sunday morning. He was referred to Polk County Juvenile Court for his involvement in the fight and released to a parent, police said.
