(Corning) Adams County Emergency Management Administrator Bill Lyddon says three tornadoes swept through Adams County on Tuesday. Lyddon says the damage is mainly in the rural areas of the county. He says five or six houses were destroyed, two homes sustained major damage, and fences, livestock, and several wind turbines.
Lyddon and the National Weather Service tracked the damage caused by the three tornadoes on Wednesday. The first tornado entered Adams County from Montgomery County from 200th to 210th Street and exited Adams County north of Mount Etna. The second twister entered the southwest corner of Adams County and traveled east of Nodaway, west of Brooks, west of Corning, and south of Lake Icaria, continuing north to five miles west of the Union County line.
Lyddon says the third tornado started at Highway 34 and Orange Avenue and traveled northeast to the Union County Line. The National Weather Service has not rated the twisters at this writing, but he thinks they will come out with an EF2 or EF3 rating.
