(Pottawattamie Co) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors approved the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Budget following a public hearing this (Tuesday) morning.
There were no comments during the hearing. Board Chair Susan Miller said the Board was reminded during the April 9th public hearing of their fiscal responsibility to the county residents to keep taxes low and Miller said she heard that message loud and clear.
“The budget for this year unfortunately had some inflationary costs, insurance went up everywhere and we took care of our employees with wages,” stated Miller.
Supervisor Tim Wichman said, “In that discussion though we were able to lower the general fund levy eleven cents and we also dumped ten cents I believe off of the debt service fund, so overall we had a 21-cent decrease in the levy. So, we did everything we could and I’m pretty happy with the way we ended up.”
