(Massena) City Officials in Massena is starting to plan for the thousands of riders coming through the town as part of RAGBRAI 2024 on July 20 through July 27. Riders will leave Glenwood on Sunday, July 20, and spend the night in Red Oak. Day two is a trip to Atlantic, and on Day 3, the bicycle enthusiasts will travel from Atlantic through Wiota, Cumberland, and Massena.
City Councilman Doug Venteicher says RAGBRAI Representatives met with Massena City Officials last week to explain what they can expect.
Venteicher says the city’s work using Tax Increment Financing funds for the past ten years is paying off.
Venteicher says a public meeting to recruit volunteers and answer questions from prospective vendors is planned for 6:30 p.m. on May 1 at the Community Legion Building in Massena.
Meanwhile, riders will travel through Fontanelle, Greenfield, Orient, and Macksburg from Massena, with an overnight stop in Winterset.
