(Maryville, MO) – Northwest Missouri State’s Breck Dickey had one impressive week last week against a ranked opponent. That performance helped earn her an honor from the MIAA as the Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Dickey is now the first Bearcat softball player to earn a conference honor of the week this season. She is the first MIAA Athlete of the Week for the softball program since Erin Keeney earned Hitter of the Week in 2019. It also marks the first MIAA Pitcher of the Week honor since Rachel Smith in 2018.
The Kansas native threw a two-hit shutout game against #9 Pittsburg State and then jumped out to get a nine-out save on Saturday to push the Bearcats to a win over Missouri Southern. Dickey is now the only MIAA pitcher to whip a shutout this season against Pittsburg State. To sum up last week, Dickey allowed just two hits and struck out nine batters in two appearances. That helped to push the Bearcats to 3-1 on the week and now sit at 12-10 on the season.
Northwest Missouri State will return to action this Wednesday against William Jewell and will get into conference action this Friday in Lincoln.
