(Maryville, MO) – At the Bearcat track and field meet on Sunday, a total of 15 Northwest Missouri State track and field athletes were named event champions. One of those champions was Luisarys Toledo.
The Venezuela native was able to take the champion title in the javelin while throwing a new school record. She was able to launch a throw 46.43 meters or 152′ 4″ on the throw. Her throw broke the former seven-year-old record that was set by Shelley Laures back in 2017. Toledo’s throw also marks the fourth-best in the conference and the eighth-best in Division II athletics.
Toledo also was able to take the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.33 seconds. She came alongside her teammates who earned second and third in the race.
Northwest Missouri State returns back to action when they head up to the Drake Relays on Thursday.
