(Iowa City, IA) – After one of the most successful wrestling seasons at the collegiate level, Iowa women’s wrestling Head Coach Clarissa Chun has been named the USA Wrestling Women’s Coach of the Year. Chun was honored at the 2024 Olympic Team Trials tournament by USA Wrestling.
With it being just her first season with the Hawkeyes, this marks the second Coach of the Year award and is the first with her being the NCWWC Women’s Wrestling Coach of the Year honor. She led a team that went 16-0 in dual competition and brought in so many fans that broke the world attendance record for the women’s wrestling program at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
During the Olympic Trials that Coach Chun was named Coach of the Year at, a total of nine Hawkeye wrestlers went head-to-head in Olympic Team Trial action with three podium finishes. There will also be multiple Iowa women’s wrestlers that will compete in the U20 and U23 World Championships.
We will see the Hawkeyes return to action in September with the U20 World Championship in Spain and the U23 World Championship in June in Columbia.
