(Oakland, IA) – The Riverside boy’s and girl’s golf teams are driving into success to start off the season with both teams winning their dual on Friday. They featured top finishers Addison Brink and Kaycie Perkins on the girl’s team and Taven Moore and Mason McCready on the boy’s team while both teams shot one of their best under Head Coach Mitch Rice. With how the teams performed, Coach Rice was proud and excited to see what they’ll do next.
The success was all-around for Riverside, including the junior varsity golfers. Some of the golfers were shooting towards varsity spots as there are about nine different male golfers who could be on the varsity roster.
While last week was chilly and windy, this week looks to be taking a completely different direction. There will be barely a chance for rain all week with beautiful conditions to be able to go out and hit the course. These Bulldog golfers will finally get to showcase what they’re really made of.
Riverside’s boy’s team will have four different meets this week. That includes a dual on Tuesday against Logan-Magnolia, Thursday’s meet at Lewis Central, Friday’s dual at Treynor, and Saturday’s meet in Anita (CAM). Coach Rice is expecting Friday to be one of the biggest battles of the week, and to fight hard in the other meets throughout the week.
For the girls, they’ll have a more limited schedule with two duals. They’ll also face off against Logan-Magnolia this Tuesday and then Treynor on Friday.
Riverside returns to action tomorrow at the Logan Missouri Valley Country Club to take on Logan-Magnolia at 4:00 p.m.
