(Lincoln, NE) – The Nebraska men’s basketball team will have to undergo a complete overhaul after the number of players who will no longer be with the team. Three players utilized their final year of eligibility for the Huskers which helped them push to make the tournament since the 2018-19 season. Josiah Allick, Keisei Tominaga, and Jarron Coleman all have played for five seasons in college basketball and will look to pursue other options.
C.J. Wilcher is the top player leaving the Huskers after this season. After playing in 97 games over his Husker career, he averaged 7.9 points per game and shot 39.4% from the field while even going through a stretch of over 11 games where he shot over 58% from the floor. “When you have older, veteran guys, especially that have been a part of this program as long as C.J. has, that really does help set the tone,” Nebraska coach Fred Hoiberg said in December.
Ramel Lloyd Jr. didn’t see too much action on the floor for the Huskers. Rather he saw quite a few games in the summer trip to Spain where he averaged 5.7 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals per game.
Another player announcing his jump from Nebraska was Eli Rice who entered first for Nebraska. The true freshman averaged 4.2 points, 1.6 assists, and shot 41.3% from the hardwood. Rice was a key player in the three-point game for Nebraska while helping carry the Huskers over both Kansas State and Michigan State.
The last player that has currently as of Thursday to transfer is Blaise Keita. His primary focus was on the rebounding game for the Huskers, something that he was not able to do until January after receiving ankle surgery.
No player has announced their intent of where they will likely go next season.
