(Ames, IA) – Iowa State phenom Audi Crooks has been named a Regional Finalist for the WBCA All-American team. Crooks adds this finalist award to last week’s AP All-America status, the first Iowa State freshman to earn WBCA All-America Honors and the first to earn AP All-America status.
Crooks has averaged 19.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game this season. The freshman has put down a total of 635 points through 33 games this season, including a career-high 40 points against Maryland in the NCAA Tourney. She is the first-ever women’s basketball player to put down 40 points and shoot above 90% from the field in an NCAA Tournament game and the first in college basketball since Bill Walton in 1973. She has broken multiple Iowa State records, including field goal makes with 258, freshmen records for points in a season 635, and field goals with 114.
Unfortunately for Iowa State, they fell in the NCAA Tournament, but with a very young team. This will be a team to watch out for next year with Audi Crooks and Addy Brown leading the way as sophomores, and Emily Ryan is looking to make a return for another year at Iowa State after a career-breaking performance against Stanford.
Crooks and the Cyclones will wait to see what other awards or finalist lists that they make it onto.
