(Des Moines) Grant Petty, Rylan Martin, and Wyatt Hoover earned medals at the Iowa State Archery Tournament at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines over the weekend.
Petty finished fifth in the boy’s division of the 3D portion of the Tournament with a score of (289). Additionally, Petty joins former Trojan standout Cooper Jipsen for being named to the All-State Team in both Bullseye and 3D. Petty shot personal best scores of 297 in 3D and Bullseye during the regular season. Petty spoke with KSOM/KS95 Sports after the Tournament.
Wyatt Hoover finished fourth place in the Middle School Bullseye competition (290). Hoover had this to say about his performance afterward.
Rylan Martin finished 10th in the girl’s division of the Bullseye state tournament. The eighth grader came through with a personal best score of 278. Martin felt good about shooting her best score of the season.
The Atlantic High School team finished the elite meet with a fourth-place finish in 3D. The top six scores are counted towards the team’s final tally. —besides Petty’s (289). Hunter Quist and Hank Roberts finished strong with (279), Lily Johnson (278), Kyler Edie (273), and Connor Johnson (272). Meanwhile, the Middle School squad finished twelve overall in Bullseye and ninth in the 3D Tournament.
Atlantic Head Coach Clint Roland says this is the fourth straight year the Atlantic High School Team has placed fourth in the 3D Tournament.
