(Oakland, IA) – Riverside has started out the season in a very successful way as they currently sit at 4-1 overall through the first five games of the season. The reason for that success has sat on Grady Jeppesen who has averaged 28.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Head coach Nicholas Kroon knows that Jeppesen may be one of the key components overall this year, but the team has also seen success from Mason McCready and Peyton Amdor who have been offensive catalysts alongside the senior.
Riverside has seen success with Jeppesen as teams look to stop him in games, which puts the pressure off of some of their other offensive counterparts. The Bulldogs may be seeing Jeppesen on every headline and the top of every stat sheet, but the team doesn’t just take one person but rather all five guys on the court.
Last season, Jeppesen didn’t see much basketball in December due to back issues, but has come back this season stronger, smarter, and faster. Defenses are now planning to not just match up against the team, but also against Grady.
The Bulldogs will be matching up against the Audubon Wheelers who feature 6’8 forward Edward Miller who has been a dominant force for Audubon. Miller has averaged 13.4 points and eight rebounds per game this season. Riverside may have lost to a very good Underwood team with height, but coach Kroon knows that the defense will be able to hold Audubon with their defensive game plan this week.
Riverside battles Audubon tomorrow, Tuesday, December 12th at 7:30 p.m. at Audubon High School.
