(Guthrie Center, IA) – The Chargers are off to a good start as they’re 3-1 overall through the first four games of the season. ACGC features three seniors who mostly have started every game so far including Emerson Van Meter, Kelsey Carlson, and Reagan Carney. Those three have not only impacted the team with their statistics but also their leadership on the floor.
Out of all the Chargers, Shay Lemke has come into this season leading the team on both the offensive and defensive sides of the floor. Lemke went from averaging 8.8 points per game last year to 14.5 points per game this season. The junior has shot 43.4% from the field while shooting 44.8% from the perimeter. ACGC also has Camdyn Richter who has helped put down high numbers in the inside game as she has averaged 10.8 points per game and has been a force to reckon with in the lane.
The Chargers have continued to be a team that works cohesively as one unit. Head coach Brad Baudler knows that there will be at least a leading scorer and rebounder in every game, but his team just is out there to win as a team, not just on the stat sheet.
AHSTW and ACGC don’t have much of a history with one another as the Chargers lead the series 2-1 overall. ACGC took the last win over AHSTW in 2022 when the Chargers won 45-40. The history does, however, go back to head coaches Brad Baudler and Jason McCall who played against one another in high school. These are two teams with great basketball minds leading the way on the floor.
Looking inside at AHSTW, the Vikings are led by Delaney Goshorn who averages 11 points and 5.4 rebounds per game so far this season. The Lady Vikes are coming off back-to-back wins over both Underwood and IKM-Manning as they look to get one on their home court against ACGC. They may be looking for that win, but it will be a tough test for the Lady Vikes with the high-caliber offense of the Chargers.
ACGC will battle against AHSTW tonight at AHSTW High School in Avoca at 6:00 p.m. KSOM 96.5 will be live for the broadcast with Zach Collins and Austin West on the call with the pregame show starting at 5:40 p.m. You can also catch the live stream on Western Iowa Today TV.
