(Griswold, IA) – Griswold is looking to get back on track these next few days after dropping three of their first four games this year. The Tigers just lost to Stanton 67-44 on Tuesday as they were close at halftime, but gave up 28 points in the third quarter alone, which put them out a game in which they led at the end of the first quarter. Head coach Matt Spunangule is looking for more consistency this week out of his Tigers.
One of the highlights so far for Griswold has been Peyton Cook. The junior knocked in 10 points and snatched seven rebounds as he has averaged around 13.3 points per game this season. Another top talent this season has been Hogan Hook, who has averaged around 8.8 points per game while he knocked in 15 against Stanton. If the team can start to rally around these two individuals while also stepping up, the Tigers could be a dangerous force later this season.
The thing about Griswold is that the Tigers are in good physical shape, but need to be in basketball shape according to coach Spunangule. A way to get around that is to work hard in practice to get up and down the court both consistently and quickly.
Dave DeBusschere, former Detroit Pistons head coach said, “The best teams have chemistry. They communicate with each other and sacrifice personal glory for the common goal.” The Tigers have great chemistry and now need to work for that common goal.
Griswold takes on Sidney this upcoming Friday for their first road game this season. Coach Spunangle is looking for time to be the factor in how they look this Friday and just rely on the shooting game early.
Sidney hosts Griswold on Friday for the Tigers’ first road game of the season. The tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
