(Glenwood) Glenwood jumped out to a 16-2 lead early and held off Atlantic late in the game to secure a 67-56 win over Atlantic at Glenwood on Friday.
Adam Severn led the Rams with 20 points, Casey Godbout with 16, and Kayden Anderson with 12. Colton Rasmussen piled in 33-points for Atlantic to lead all scorers. The senior went 6-8 from the line and knocked down three threes and seven field goals. Gavin McLaren totaled 17 points and burned the net with three three-point baskets.
The Rams’ pressure defense forced numerous turnovers early and raced to the 16-2 lead. Six players contributed to the scoring. Kayden Anderson, Drew Schroeder, and Adam Severn led the charge with two points each. Jack Johnson and Ayden Gibson each contribute a bucket. The Trojans settled in late with a 5-0 run to end the quarter trailing 16-7. Sophomore Gavin McLaren sparked the offense with a three-point shot.
The game evened out in the second frame. The Rams outscored the Trojans by a narrow 15-14 margin and led 31-21 at the break. McLaren buried another three-point shot, and Colton Rasmussen hammered in on long-range shots, three field goals, and two free throws. Casey Godbout controlled the paint in the second frame and scored six points.
The Trojans played step-for-step with Glenwood in the third and fourth quarters, slicing the lead to single digits numerous times; however, the large deficit was too much to overcome.
The Rams go to 1-1 on the season. Atlantic falls to 2-2
