(Atlantic) The ACGC girls rolled to a 63-44 win over Atlantic in the Chargers season opener on Tuesday at Atlantic.
The Trojans’ only run of the game came early in the contest. ACGC raced out to a 12-2 lead with pressure defense and points after turnovers. Atlantic rebounded with a 7-0 run to end the first quarter and squeezed the lead to 12-11 early in the second frame. The Chargers picked up the pace, outscoring the home team 11-4 down the stretch for a 23-15 lead at the break. Kelsey Carlsen, Shay Lemke, and Reagan Carney each buried three-point baskets in the first half for ACGC.
ACGC extended the lead to 41-31 after three-quarters, finishing the contest with 22 fourth-quarter points while holding the Trojans to 11.
Reagan Carney led the Chargers with 17 points, Shay Lemke with 12, Kelsey Carlsen with 9, and Camdyn Richter with 8.
Payton Harter scored 24 points to lead Atlantic; Katrina Williams, 6; Peyton McLaren, 4; Zoey Kirchhoff, 3; Makenna Schroeder, 2; and Rylee Harlan added one.
The Trojans go to 1-2 on the season and travel to Glenwood on Friday, ACGC host Woodward-Granger.
