(Atlantic) A big second half propels ACGC to a 77-60 road win over Atlantic on Tuesday.
Noah Kading led the Chargers with 26 points, Payton Policky, 17, Anthony Solorzano, 15, and Jathan South, 11. Colton Rasmussen led Atlantic with 24 points, Gavin McLaren, 17, and Brock Henderson finished the game with 9.
Colton Rasmussen got on a roll early, scoring 11 of the Trojans 13 first-quarter points to the Chargers nine. The Trojans outscored ACGC 14-13 in the second frame, holding a 27-22 lead at the break.
The second half was an entirely different story. The Chargers switched up their defense, forced turnovers, and scored on transition baskets. Jathan South sparked the offense in the third quarter with ten points, Solorzano, six; Noah Kading, four; Payton Policky, four, and raced out to a 50-42 third-quarter lead.
The Chargers kept their foot on the gas in the final frame with 27 points, led by Solorzano and Policky, scoring nine points each. Gavin McLaren got on a hot streak in the fourth quarter for the Trojans, scoring 12 of his 17 points; however, the mountain was much too tall to climb, and the Chargers headed home with the 77-60 victory.
