(Underwood, IA) – The Underwood Eagles earned another win to make it nine straight wins after they beat East Sac County last Friday night 44-6. Underwood has continued to execute the plan of teamwork all season long, something that head coach Nate Mechaelsen knows has been the reason for their success.
Quarterback Garrett Luett has continued to be impressive this season as he passed 12-16 for four touchdowns and has thrown for a total of 1,875 yards this season. In the last game against the Raiders, the sophomore struggled at times as he threw three interceptions, the most that he has thrown in a single game all season. Luett is a player who is hard on himself, but it pushes him further to get better over time.
The offense continues to be successful with the play of Luett, but you cannot forget about the guys that he is throwing to downfield. They have relied on Josh Ravlin, Jack Vanfossan, Easton Robertson, and Mason Boothby in the receiving game all season long. Underwood’s success comes downfield and it shows with the leadership and athletic ability of these four players. It also comes from the offensive line as well as the running backs Maddox Nelson and Graham Jensen who have combined for over 1,200 rushing yards.
Underwood will be taking on AHSTW underneath the Friday night lights. They are led in the rushing game by Luke Sternberg and Camden Soukup who combine for over 1,800 rushing yards this season. Camden Soukup leads them in the passing game with 1,223 yards and 15 touchdowns with a plethora of receivers. AHSTW has gotten back up from the bottom as they went from losing three straight games to now winning four straight games.
Underwood takes on AHSTW this Friday with a kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
