(Red Oak) On Thursday, at 2:54 p.m., the Red Oak Fire Department was dispatched to 2049 Fernwood Ave for a reported fire in the outside stacks.
Red Oak Fire Chief John Bruce says arriving firefighters reported an active fire from the stack system. Red Oak Fire deployed the aerial unit to suppress the blaze and called for mutual aid for additional firefighters and tanker support.
Firefighters remained on the scene until 6:30 p.m. There were no injuries to Firefighters or civilians. The damage to the facility is currently being evaluated.
Fire Departments from Staton, Essex, Villisca, Elliott, and Shenandoah assisted at the scene, along with the Red Oak Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County Emergency Management, Montgomery County Communications, and Bungee Maintenance Staff.
