(Glidden, IA) – Glidden-Ralston has had the winning factor in their favor over the last three weeks as the Wildcats have won three straight games. Last week, Glidden-Ralston won over Collins-Maxwell 38-6 as it was the first game this season that the Wildcats held an opponent to single digits. As a coach, you cannot ask for better September football.
Colby Wallace rushed for 171 yards on 29 carries and earned four touchdowns last week against Collins-Maxwell. Head Coach Kreg Lensch isn’t looking to fully rely on Wallace as he would like to see other athletes become involved but knows that he has the opportunity to utilize the junior.
The defense was very successful last week as they held the Spartans to just 100 yards rushing and 97 yards passing. The secondary also had two interceptions in the last competition, both of which were caught by Brayton Meyer.
This week, Glidden-Ralston is taking on a 4-1 Audubon Wheelers team that has now won four straight games. The Wheelers are primarily a rushing team as they average 304 yards per game with primary running back Evan Alt and quarterback Aaron Olsen. The Wildcats are looking to try to control the football and contain the explosive plays.
Coach Lensch is not looking for a specific player to step up this week, but to have the team step forward. That step forward is by eliminating turnovers in week six and going at Audubon with a sound offense.
Glidden-Ralston travels to Audubon tomorrow with a kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
