(Red Oak) On Tuesday, the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors approved an agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation for the detour and traffic sign at the intersection of Highway 34 and Highway 48.
County Engineer Karen Albert said the agreement places a stoplight at that intersection. She says the county and the city of Red Oak are each responsible for two stoplights. The County and City will share the maintenance and electricity costs.
Albert says the agreement also states other street closures during this construction project. Supervisor Chairman Mike Olson says the initial proposal by the City of Red Oak was to annex a couple of businesses located outside city limits.
The DOT has not posted a timeline for the construction.
