(Guthrie Co) One person was killed and another suffered severe injuries in a two-vehicle accident in Guthrie County Friday evening.
The Iowa State Patrol says 60-year-old Kelly Jo Polson, of Audubon, was pronounced deceased at the scene. 54-year-old Andrew Leonard Knudsen, of Sumter, South Carolina, was transported to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines by Life Flight.
According to the report, Kelly Polson was driving a 2011 Ford Focus westbound on Highway 44, west of Koala Avenue at around 9:51 p.m. Andrew Knudsen was driving a 2023 Chevy Malibu eastbound at the same location. Polson crossed the center line and struck the Malibu head-on.
The accident remains under investigation.
