(Griswold, IA) – Griswold has struggled to get off to a winning start this season. They let Fremont Mills jump the gun early last week as the Knights went on a 26-0 run in the first quarter, eventually winning the game 49-0 over the Tigers. Head Coach Seth Lembke is looking for defensive improvement in his athletes in both their defensive assignments and focusing on their roles on the field.
Body Wyman got off to a good start to see the offense get yards on the stat sheet. The Tigers’ quarterback threw 9-17 for 100 yards last game and was the first time in a long time that Griswold has accumulated that many yards in the passing game. Griswold has continued to see improvement in yardage and their routes over the last four weeks.
In the defensive game, Owen Johnson led the team with four tackles and a sack in the last game against Fremont Mills which helps put Griswold in a better position defensively this week.
Griswold will be taking on Stanton this week as the Vikings earned their first win over East Mills 52-48. The Vikings are led by Nolan Grebin who has passed for 533 yards and six touchdowns. The Tigers will have to rally around defensively to halt Grebin and the Vikings’ offense.
The Tigers are looking for their first win as they will host Stanton at their Homecoming game which starts at 7:00 p.m.
