(Washington, D.C.) Work continues on a Farm Bill in the U.S. House.
Representative Zach Nunn, from Iowa’s 3rd District, said he wants to make sure they still have ‘farm’ in the actual farm bill.
Nunn said farmers need to know that they’re going to have the coverage they need in conservation, crop insurance, innovation, and that they’ve got a real pathway forward for issues that he feels are important.
Nunn said not only are they investing heavily in the ag piece, they’re making sure that those good parts of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) see real increases in ways that keep things on balance with farmers.
Nunn said another important piece is that they have good national security when it comes to food security.
Nunn said this farm bill is moving a long way forward in making sure that America’s farmers are some of the most competitive in the world and don’t have artificial road blocks put in place on their commodities by competitors who are not being held by the same standard.
