(Audubon, IA) – The Wheelers know how to win games as they have now won three straight games after their 66-48 win over St. Edmond. Head Coach Sean Birks credits his team on the offensive line as they have been versatile on the lines and have been able to play tough in those positions.
Audubon relies on the sweeping action on the outsides and started off slowly early this season, but has been able to adapt and get better as the season progresses. Evan Alt has developed as a runner as he rushed for just 36 combined rushing yards in weeks one and two. Just in the last game alone against St. Edmond, the senior rushed for 237 yards as he has been patient and utilized the blocking coverage.
In terms of their improvement, the Wheelers have been eliminating their mistakes and have been able to adapt and improvise. Coach Birks has seen this improvement as the reps continue and the mistakes fade away.
This week, Audubon is taking on a 1-3 Coon Rapids-Bayard team that relies on the playing ability of quarterback Wyatt Oswald. He has thrown for over 400 yards and has rushed for 200 yards in four weeks of play. The Wheelers are going to focus on keeping Oswald in the pocket and keep him contained on the run.
Audubon will travel to Coon Rapids-Bayard for the Crusaders’ homecoming game underneath the lights.
