Iowa School Districts Allocate AEA Funds For Upcoming School Year

(Marshalltown, IA) — Iowa school districts are strategizing the allocation of funds for Area Education Agencies (AEAs) following recent legislative changes. With Governor Kim Reynolds signing the AEA reform bill into law, districts must now determine how to distribute funds for educational needs and media services. While special education services remain unchanged, districts like Marshalltown Community Schools are committing all available educational services funding to AEAs, opting not to allocate funds for media services until further research is conducted. The new legislation aims to provide schools access to previously unavailable funds, with districts facing decisions on utilizing these resources best to benefit students.
