(Atlantic, IA) – The Atlantic Chamber Ambassadors were hosted by the Roland Funeral Service on Thursday. Roland is celebrating 104 years of business and debuted a few improvements.
Co-owner Heidi Roland-Hinman shared the history of the Roland Funeral Service in Atlantic. In 1919, Burdette Roland became employed as the Funeral Director and Embalmer for Peacock and Baxter Furniture and Undertaking Company. This was previously located at 315 Chestnut Street in downtown Atlantic when Burdette bought into the business and changed the name to Roland-Peacock and Baxter.
The business remained on Chestnut until 1926 when they bought property on Fifth and Elm Streets. Since the move, the Rolands Family and staff have continued to serve Cass County while keeping many aspects the same. The family has recently added a few improvements to the property including a new sign and a resurfacing of the parking lot.
