(Dunlap, IA) – The Boyer Valley Bulldogs got an earlier start than most smaller schools in western Iowa. Boyer Valley took on Moravia and competed to the end, falling to the Mowhawks 32-27. Coach Christensen knows that they are going to build off that loss and rely more on quarterback Luke Cripps to be more successful moving forward.
Defensively, the Bulldogs allowed 207 passing yards off five touchdowns while allowing 118 rushing yards on the field. They were able to keep themselves in the game as the defense also picked up three interceptions as Evan Ten Eyck had two and Owen Garside snagged up another. Ben Lantz was the leading defender in the game with 9.5 tackles and earned a sack as well for the Bulldogs.
Going into their second game of the season, coach Christensen is looking to see how his athletes have improved from one Friday night to another.
Boyer Valley is looking to change up their offensive strategy against Griswold when compared to when they took on the Mowhawks in Week Zero. They are also strategizing to win at the line of scrimmage and limit turnovers against the Tigers.
Coach Christensen previously coached at Fremont Mills and had quite a bit of experience coaching against the Tigers. As it has been a long time since Boyer Valley has taken on Griswold, Christensen is ready to see what the Tigers bring to the table Friday.
Boyer Valley will battle against Griswold at home starting at 7:00 pm.
