(Creston) One person died, and another was injured in a single-vehicle crash in Creston.
The accident happened at 9:43 p.m. on Saturday at 315 Sumner Avenue in Creston. The Iowa State Patrol stated a 2001 Ford Mustang traveling at a “high rate” of speed southbound on Highway 25 went out of control near the intersection of Sumner and Howard Street, struck a parked vehicle, vaulted, and struck the front of two houses, and came to rest on its top at 313 Sumner Avenue.
Union County ambulance transported the driver to the Union County Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries. Mercy Helicopter transported the passenger to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Their names were not immediately released.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office and the Creston Police Department assisted the Iowa State Patrol at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
