(Taylor Co) A Kellerton man was found guilty for his role in a house fire in November 2022 that injured a woman in Bedford.
According to court records, a jury found 69-year-old Ellis Houk guilty of Arson 1st Degree, Attempted Murder, Willful Injury, Burglary 1st Degree and Criminal Mischief 1st Degree. Sentencing is set for September 19th.
As we previously reported, the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a house fire at 1871 Orange Avenue, Bedford on November 20th. The female occupant had exited the home and was treated by Taylor County EMS before being airlifted to a burn center for treatment of serious injuries. Sheriff’s Deputies began an investigation into the origin of the fire, which led to the belief that it was arson. Ellis Houk was located in Texas and extradited back to Taylor County where he was charged.
