(Atlantic) Cooper Metheny of the Grant Guys and Gals took home the top trophy for overall market lamb, and Morgan Will (bottom photo) of the Benton-Franklin 4-H Club topped the show with her Championship breeding ewe at the Cass County Fair 4-H and FFA Sheep Show on Saturday.
The show kicked off at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday with the FFA exhibitors.
Tiana Hagen from CAM FFA showed the Grand Champion Market Lamb. Alyson Dreager of the Atlantic FFA exhibited the reserve market lamb. Grant Petty of the Atlantic FFA showed the Grand Champion All Other Breed Class, and Leah Ohms of CAM exhibited the reserve AOB lamb. Hagen’s Lamb won the overall FFA Market Lamb, and Alyson Dreager’s entry finished runner-up. Hagen also showed the Grand Champion and Reserve Champion Black Face Breeding Ewe AND won top honors in Showmanship. Grant Petty was runner-up.
In the 4-H Division, Grant Petty of Washington GEM showed the Grand Champion 4-H Production Lamb, and Claire Schroder of Grove HOT exhibited the Reserve Production Lamb.
Cooper Metheny showed the Grand Champion 4-H purchased Lamb, and Morgan Will exhibited the reserve. Aubrey Graham of Grove HOT showed the Grand Champion All Other Breed market lamb, and Eden Ohms of the Grant Guys and Gals finished runner-up. Will’s Black Face Breeding Ewe took the top trophy in the class, and Metheny’s Lamb stood second.
Faithlyn Scholl from Benton-Franklin showed the Grand Champion All Other Breed Breeding Ewe, and Emma Meyer’s Lamb from the Grant Guys and Gals finished runner-up.
Metheny’s overall champion market lamb (4-H and FFA) and Will’s breeding ewe (4-H and FFA) will now advance to the “Best of the West Showdown” at the Crawford County Fairgrounds in Denison on Wednesday, August 3.
