(Atlantic) Missy Worth Goergen will be inducted into the Atlantic High School Softball Hall of Fame tonight.
Missy had a decorated career as a Trojan athlete in the late 80s and 90s. She was a point guard on the Trojans state champion basketball team and also shined on the softball field during her four-year career.
She earned four letters in 1987, 1988, 1989, and 1990. Three years at third base earning the following accolades: All-State Honorable Mention, First Team All-District, First Team All-Conference, led the team in triples, and batted over .400. Additionally, she was named Second Team All-District, Second Team All-Conference, and led the team in RBI, and extra-base hits.
Missy Goergen moved to the outfield her senior year and garnered many accolades: All-State Elite Special Mention of all classes. Fourth Team All-State, First Team All-District, First Team All-Southwest Iowa, Unanimous First Team All-Conference, led the team in barring average, hits, RBI, stolen bases, and committed no errors.
