(Des Moines) Pieper Lewis will not have to go to prison for 20 years. The Des Moines teen got probation last year for fatally stabbing a man who she says raped her. At Fresh Start Women’s Center in November, Lewis cut off her GPS tracker and fled the facility. She faced more than 20 years in prison for the killing and could have faced more time after violating probation. In a hearing yesterday, Polk County Judge David Porter suspended prison time for Lewis, again putting her on five years’ probation. The location is to be determined.
