(Council Bluffs) A train derailment on Saturday evening in Council Bluffs blocked the intersection of S. 12th St. and 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 14th, and 16th Avenues, as well as S. 16th St. and 23rd Avenue.
Council Bluffs Police Officers on routine duty discovered several rail cars derailed north of 14th Avenue and S. 15th Street at around 6:35 p.m. A Union Pacific employee notified personnel, and a crew was dispatched.
The intersections were closed for several hours.
