(Clarinda) The Clarinda City Council approves two street closure requests at their meeting on Wednesday.
According to the meeting minutes, Glenn Miller Festival Board Member Marvin Negley requested closing the west and south side of the square for the 2023 Glenn Miller Festival outdoor concert on June 8th at 5:00 p.m. Scott Davison requested closing off the east side of the square for a High Road Concert on June 25th.
The City Council also approved the appointment of Tim Parrott to the Clarinda Volunteer Fire Department. Fire Chief Roger Williams also requested the council approve the purchase of a 2023 Ford F-550 Grass Fire Truck. Williams stated brush fires have gone up considerably and this truck will assist in getting firefighters into the rural secluded areas. The truck will be funded with the remaining funds from a U.S. Department of Agriculture grant that recently helped the city buy a new fire truck. The council approved the purchase of the grass fire truck for $204,707.
