(Minden) A Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) is set up at the United Church of Christ in Minden this weekend. Multiple agencies are on hand to provide services to individuals and families affected by the April 26th tornado.
Shelley McLaren, with Crisis Response Canines, is on hand with Jacks. Crisis Response Canines’ mission is to provide strength, comfort, and emotional support to individuals, families, communities, and first responders experiencing intense traumatic emotions in the aftermath of critical incidents.
Scott Zimmerman, with Heartland Family Services, said they are providing mental health, behavioral health and housing services.
Andrew Metcalfe, with Samaritan’s Purse, said they are providing assistance with temporary roof tarping, chainsaw work, yard cleanup and salvage of personal belongings.

Brittany Seely, with NAMI Southwest Iowa based in Neola, said they have a gathering place and they have become a central hub for people to go Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Some of the other agencies on hand include the American Red Cross, Connections Area Agency on Aging, Family Housing Advisory Services, Habitat for Humanity, Heartland Family Services, Iowa Legal Aid, Inter-Faith Response, Inc., ISU Extension, New Visions Homeless Services, Salvation Army, Together, Inc., and West Central Community Action.
The MARC is open until Noon today (Saturday) and from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
